The NTA has a list of eligibility criteria for admission to the top institutions, like NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs. To take part in the admission process for the above-mentioned colleges through Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB), a candidate must fulfill some minimum criteria.
A candidate must have at least 75% marks in the class 12 board exams, or he/she must be in the top 20 percentile on the state-level class 12 examination. For SC/ST, the qualifying mark is 65%. Apart from the above criteria, a candidate must pass all the class 12 board exams individually.
On top of these, the institution will announce its individual criteria. Please refer to this link, for information regarding the qualifying criteria. The 75% criteria are not for state or private engineering colleges.
Many aspirants all over the country are not happy with the 75% criteria. Advocate Anubha Srivastava filed a petition on December 26, 2022. The Bombay High Court ruled out this petition earlier.
The candidates were also not happy with the examination dates. Many aspirants believe that the proximity of the JEE Main dates to the CBSE class 12 board exams will hinder their preparation.. The High Court ruled on this plea earlier. However, the decision on the 75% criteria is still pending. The NTA has requested that candidates follow the JEE official website for updates on this matter.
