An aspirant must be among the top 2,50,000 in the B.E/B.Tech papers from various categories, such as General, SC, ST, OBS, and EWS.
The percentages of the various categories of candidates to be shortlisted are 10% for GEN-EWS, 27% for OBC-NCL, 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST, and the remaining 40.5% is OPEN for everyone.
The PwD candidates get a 5% horizontal reservation.

- The Number of Attempts for JEE Advanced Examination
A candidate may attempt the JEE Advanced examination, not more than twice in two succeeding years.
- The Appearance of an Aspirant in Grade 12 or Equivalent Examination
To be eligible for the JEE Advanced 2023, a candidate must have appeared for the grade 12 examination for the first time in 2022 or 2023. The aspiring candidates must pass the grade 12 exam with physics, chemistry, and maths as compulsory subjects.
Candidates who have appeared for the grade 12 examination in 2021 or before that are not eligible for JEE Advanced 2023.
- A Candidate’s Earlier Admission to the IITs
A candidate who has been admitted to the IITs before is not eligible for the JEE Advanced 2023, regardless of whether the applicant continued in the program or accepted a seat online or at a reporting centre.
